Poison Dart Frogs

There are 4 species of Poison Dart Frogs. The Golden Dart Frogs, Strawberry  Poison Dart Frogs, Blue Poison Dart Frogs, and Dyeing Poison Dart Frogs.  All 4 of them live in jungles around the world.  Each have very toxic venom but it is used only for defense.  They will hunt small insects.  These frogs hunt like any other frog.  They will use their tongue, not their venom to catch their pray.  In fact their venom is only used to protect them selves from other predators.

Golden Dart Frogs are one of the most venomous animals in the world.

Strawberry Poison Dart Frogs are less venomous to humans but can cause swelling or burning.

Blue Dart Frogs are very venomous.   Their sapphire blue color says, "hey don't mess with me!"

Dyeing Poison Dart Frogs are called dyeing poison dart frogs because it looks like someone dyed black on their golden skin.

Poison dart frogs got their name from the natives of South
America who rubbed the venom from the frog onto blow darts to use as weapons.
